SCOUT STUDIO
Collage Fine Art
Scout Studio transforms fragments of forgotten imagery into intimate, unique collages that feel like messages intercepted from the cosmos.
From a vast collection of prints, stickers, posters, photo, art and vintage books, maps, and imported handmade papers, each piece is cut entirely from already printed sources.
Every composition emerges from unlikely visual coincidences, revealing the quiet poetry hidden in the world’s existing images.

Work
In an era defined by digital automation and AI-generated images, Scout Studio focus on the opposite path: each collage is conceived, cut, and assembled entirely by hand. No reproductions exist—every work is a singular, unrepeatable piece.Sourcing from a meticulously built personal archive of prints, books, stickers, maps collected on travels, and imported artisan papers, Scout Studio combines fragments from multiple origins into compositions that feel both inevitable and impossible. The process is slow, tactile, and unpredictable: hundreds of potential pairings are considered before arriving at the precise visual conversation that forms the final piece. The resulting works are not only meditations on meaning and coincidence, but also proof that in an age of instant replication, the universe will communicate through the human perception, a language that we will understand through emotions, with a unique spark, narrative and creative drive.¹ All source materials used in these collages are physically acquired by the artist and integrated under transformative, fair-use principles. The artist acknowledges and respects the original creators’ rights.

ARTIST
Scout Studio is the creative vessel of Chilean–Ecuadorian artist Emil Salguero, whose practice in collage art began in 2005 while he was studying Business Administration at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago. Over the past two decades, Salguero has forged an individual, self-taught approach to collage—evolving from raw experimentation to a refined method rooted in the search for visual synchronicity.
From his home-studio in New York, Salguero works exclusively in one-of-a-kind, hand-cut compositions, deliberately avoiding reproductions to preserve each piece’s authenticity. His process begins long before the first cut—through years of building a personal “collage library”: shelves lined with prints, photography, art and vintage volumes, travel maps, and imported papers from Italy, India, and Nepal. His latest body of work, Postcards from the Universe, emerges from a deepening spiritual engagement with the act of image-making. Each collage is a meditation on the coincidences of form and meaning—scouting for fragments that seem unrelated, then discovering their inevitable connection. The resulting works invite the viewer into an intimate dialogue with chance, intuition, and the hidden narratives, that arrange the world’s imagery into messages worth hearing.
